Admiration of Twitter plummeting finally!

Is Twitter going down finally? Well, this is not an admonition in any way but lots of recently released reports state that the confidence of both Twitter’s members and the website itself is on the wane.

I think that a few pertinent data may make the fact clearer. To begin with, eMarketer, a market research and trend analysis firm in the realm of USA, is confident that admiration of Twitter is plummeting. The company, citing Nielsen, stated emphatically that traffic to Twitter.com was down a dramatic 27.8 per cent between September and October 2009, falling to 18.9 million unique visitors.

Admiration of Twitter plummeting finallyThe gruesome facts have been corroborated by others also. Before Nielsen, a market researcher, comScore, another firm in the same scenario, had said unique visitors to Twitter were down 8.1 per cent in October, while Compete, noted market data provider, reported a 2.1 per cent decline.

What can be the main reasons behind this debacle? As indicated by eMarketer, there may be
quite a lot of reasons. Crowd Science data from August 2009 indicated 43 per cent of Twitter users accessed the service through third-party applications, and 19 per cent through SMS.

Some of the potent reasons include movement to other platforms, for instance third-party applications and mobile access, while rising smartphone adoption and the popularity of mobile Twitter clients is thought as a point on the side of migration.

It is useful to mention, in this context, eMarketer had estimated in September that 18 million US adults would make use of Twitter by the end of 2009.

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that enables its users to send and read messages known as tweets. Tweets are text-based posts of up to 140 characters displayed on the author's profile page and delivered to the author's subscribers who are known as followers.
