Food allergies among US children getting alarming


It feels strange to state but it’s a reality that some inconceivable theories do exist of USA across the world, especially the impoverished countries. The majority of inhabitants of these countries consider that USA is devoid of miseries or the perpetual class differences, whereas the reality is just the reverse. All forms of distress including crimes like feticide do take place in the United States of America too. Even food allergies among US children are seen too!

Take for instance the recently published national surveys. As stated by those, the number of children having food allergies is not only increasing, it now covers 4% of all kids in the United States. It is to be noted that the very study is the first to make an all-encompassing appraisal about the prevalence of food allergies among U.S. children and hence, it does advocate earlier studies suggesting that allergy rates are rising rapidly, for reasons that are unclear.

What is more, healthcare visits for food allergies in children almost tripled between two time periods studied: 1992 through 1997 and 2003 through 2006. In accordance with, Amy M. Branum, a statistician with the National Center for Health Statistics,
the data suggest a genuine surge in illnesses and not just better awareness and diagnosis.

It has been learnt that the majority of data were drawn from surveys of children's parents. Apart from this, medical records from 2005-06 were also used and these aided researchers to find out that 9% of children in one survey tested positive for IgE antibodies to peanuts. IgE antibodies are found in the lungs, skin and mucous membranes, usually in response to food allergies.
