NVIDIA all set to exploit new format 3D in PCs
Perhaps, as far as the memory of this scribe goes, the concept of 3D films or any visual presentation system that attempts to maintain or recreate moving images of the third dimension, the illusion of depth as seen by the viewer, reached the Indian shores in mid-80s. The then novel idea failed to create any impression among the film buffs in India and had an early exit. However, the same idea is making a good return this time but more potently compared to the misadventure of 80s and it is coming back in a new format 3D in PCs.
What is the exclusivity of this novel format? It is set to change the way the people play games and watch movies on computers. We have to tell in this way since a premier company like
NVIDIA, a multinational corporation which specializes in the development of graphics processing units and chipset technologies for workstations, personal computers, and mobile devices, has conviction of its success. What is more, Mr. Jen-Hsun Huang, President and Chief Executive Officer of NVIDIA, bets that 3D is going to be a hit and technologies developed by his company would power a special graphics card, a LCD screen and goggles.
Talking to Business Line, the animated NVIDIA CEO said, These devices would allow the user to have the third dimension as they play games and watch movies on PCs. It has been found that the 3D Vision, to be displayed at the Las Vegas (the US) technology expo in January 2010, is likely to hit the commercial market there on. The company would announce the names of the manufacturers who would be using the technology. What is the future planning of NVINDIA in India then? As indicated by Mr. Jen-Hsun Huang, in the sphere of India, the company is planning to approach the gaming cafes first so as to sell the idea. The CEO states very clearly that at the beginning, it is expected to cost $200 more than the regular PC. However towards end of the year, as sales grow, the gap could come down to $100.
NVINDIA is all set.
