Broke Michael Caine was outcast by his childhood pals

London, November 16 : Sir Michael Caine has revealed that in his younger days his friends quit his company because he used to be broke.

In fact the Get Carter actor did not even have money to treat his friends at a pub.

He added: So they stopped seeing me. Broke, out-of-work actors are very lonely people. It's the opposite of what you imagine: they blew me out first."

The 76-year-old actor, who found fame in 1960s after doing a string of British films, admitted that he has lost connection with lot of people he knew.

He said: "It also gives you a tremendous sense of guilt for those you've left behind, because you shouldn't have left them so far behind.
