Google hopes to attain zenith through using Gizmo5
It is becoming apparent that Google is set to attain the zenith of success and with this end in view, it is leaving no stone unturned to stimulate Google Voice. This saga has strengthened to a greater extent owing to its recent success in the acquisition of Gizmo5 - a voice over IP software company - for an undisclosed sum. It has also been learnt that the existing clientele of Gizmo5 have nothing to fear since they will still be able to make use of the service.
It is to be noted that the service, in essence, is similar to Skype, however it is based on open standards. It also consists of a client for cellphone users. But there have been other developments as well. It has been learnt that new signups will remain undecided, and current users will no longer be able to sign up for a call-in number.
Commenting on this development 'Speedy' Wesley Chan states on the company blog, even since the GrandCentral team joined Google in 2007, they've done unbelievable things with Google's technology and resources to launch and improve Google Voice and now it does welcome the Gizmo5 team to Google and hope for working together to bring more useful features to Google Voice. On the other hand, Google, yet, hasn’t stated precisely what Gizmo5 is expected to bring to the party. Many analysts are speculating that it is nothing except VOIP, Google only last month told the FCC that it shouldn't be subject to the same rules as phone companies, precisely because it wasn't a VOIP service.
Google Inc. is an American public corporation, earning revenue from advertising related to its Internet search, e-mail, online mapping, office productivity, social networking, and video sharing services as well as selling advertising-free versions of the same technologies and has also developed an open source web browser and a mobile operating system. The company, if truth be told, is running thousands of servers worldwide, which process millions of search requests each day and about 1 petabyte of user-generated data every hour.
