Infosys Technologies teams up with NVIDIA to upgrade CUDA enabled software
Infosys Technologies, globally acclaimed India-based multinational technological corporation, has joined forces with NVIDIA and has set up a new “Infosys-NVIDIA Technology Center” at the Infosys campus at Electronic City in Bangalore. It has been learnt that the partnership aims to endorse the development of CUDA enabled software.
What is CUDA enabled software then? As per analysts, CUDA is a new technology architecture and the same has already been adopted in NVIDIA graphics cards from quite some time. It does enable applications to make use of the computers graphics processors for complex computation tasks, thus freeing the CPU for other tasks. What it more in this way, the graphics processor - which is generally used while playing games or rendering 3D content - is also more efficiently utilized. There is hardly any doubt that this is of greatest benefit to applications which entail large amounts of data and computation.
It has also been found that the joint venture is likely to speed up the development process and performance of Infosys’ applications such as those for Healthcare and Life Sciences, e-Governance, Finance and Medical Sciences. This will also assist them in updating current client application to make use of the NVIDIA CUDA platform.CUDA enabled application stand to work faster and save on hardware costs and power consumption by making more efficient utilization of the hardware. Apart from this there is another side of this partnership and it is to smooth the progress of development of application which increase throughput by utilizing grid computing and parallel computing.
