Regular exercise cuts mens risk of brain damage by stroke


Washington, Nov 14 : A new study has revealed that regular exercise can significantly reduce the risk of brain damage caused by stroke in men.

Lead researcher Carl D. Reimers showed that in men, rapid walking or cycling can lower the risk cerebral hemorrhage by 40pct.

It can further cut the risk cerebral infarction by 27pct.

However, in women, a statistically significant effect has not been demonstrated.

Another study led by sports physician Martin Halle also showed that regular walking lowers the risk of colorectal carcinoma by 40pct.

Patients with colorectal carcinoma can also improve their prognosis with regular exercising.

Both the studies have been published in Deutsches rzteblatt International.
