10 failed doomsday prophecies

Washington, November 9 : Scientists have listed ten failed doomsday prophecies, which undermines the seriousness of the 2012 end of the world prediction by the ancient Mayans.

According to National geographic News, the first failed domsday prophecy was when some ancient Romans saw the A.D. 79 eruption of Mount Vesuvius as a sign of a coming apocalypse, which never came.

Then, there is the case of many Christian Europeans entering the year 1666 with trepidation, as the Bible describes 666 as the ominous Number of the Beast.

A prolonged plague that had wiped out much of Londons populace in 1665 didnt help assuage fears, and when the Great Fire of London occurred, many believed their time had come.

The appearance of Halleys comet in 1910 stirred apocalyptic hysteria among Europeans and Americans, many of whom believed that the comets tail contained a gas that would impregnate the atmosphere and possibly snuff out all life on the planet, according to French astronomer Camille Flammarion, as quoted in the book Apocalypses.

Since its founding in the 1870s, the Jehovahs Witnesses, a Christian offshoot, had prophesied that the world would end in 1914.

Though nothing of the sort happened in 1914, ever since then, the religions followers have been predicting that the world will end shortly.

Author Richard Noone predicted that on May 5, 2000, the planets would perfectly align and end life as we know it by sending melting ice barreling toward Earths Equator.

Television evangelist Pat Robertson preached that sometime in the 1980s, Jesus would return to Earth, after the biblical doomsday event known as the Rapture.

Doom and gloom can also spark scientific innovation, as occurred in 1774 in Friesland, Germany. A vicar hoping to boost his congregation circulated a little book of doom that said the solar system would be demolished during an upcoming conjunction.

The extremely bright comet Hale-Bopp, discovered in 1995, last buzzed Earth in March 1997, when out of frenzy, thirty-nine people, part of a religious group called Heavens Gate, committed suicide, believing that a UFO riding the comets wake would rescue them from a doomed Earth.

Then, there was the case of the Y2K bug at the end of the 20th century. It was predicted that a bug caused by a calculation error would cripple computers and other machines and lead to mass chaos, none of which actually happened.

When the Large Hadron Collider fired up in September 2009, some critics speculated that the worlds biggest atom smasher could spawn a black hole that would devour Earth, which was proven to be incorrect when the machine was actually started.

Those that place so much faith in Revelations should do some studying of The Gospels. I think they would quickly discover a conversation Jesus had with His Disciples when he told them He was leaving but would return. When asked when He'd return He specifically says, "No man will know the time of My return, I will come as a thief in the night". Btw, we are now entering the SECOND millenium after Christ's Death, if people would do some serious study of history they'd discover the same predictions were being made around the year 1000 AD.

Also the Large Hadron Collider has yet to be fully activated. A component failed during preliminary testing and it was just recently fixed. It will be sometime next year before they try to fully activate it.

And none of the above deals with the political/atmospheric/diseases/plague/genocidal/pollution items shown in Saint John the Beloved's Holy Vision recorded as "Revelation".

Yet the political unrest/warring of tribe against tribe, nation against nation, economic confusion of nations, building of an inter-national united government power, having at it's head One Leader, with a world society becoming soon untied by an all encompassing one world monetary system. pollutions of the oceans, the dieing of many species, the dieing of many millions of humanity by starvation, the "falling away" of many formerly strong Christian Believers from their faith, the rise of numerous False Prophets & ear tickling false Preachers, the climate changes which cause people to only recognize the seasons of each year by the mere budding of trees, the rise in all manner of cancers, including the rise in Sun-Ray caused cancers, with the spirit or abiding attitude of courteous kindness, and Godly Love between even friends now seen growing cold, with the huge rise in pleasures once considered wicked by all peoples of history, in which the "Dark Side" now is glorified, while goodness and Godliness is mocked and cast aside from normal daily interaction of cultures, with the legal establishment of a renewed Jewish/Hebrew nation in the Land of it's founding centuries: All of these are listed throughout the Holy Bible as "Signal Beacons" of the beginning of the "Last Day's" of mankind in the Earth before GOD fulfills the covenant which HE made with Noah, saying; "Never again, shall I destroy all living things from off the face of the Earth by flood. But there shall come a Day when once more, I purge the Earth. I shall purge it with fire." Now, whether or not the Mayan Prophesy time line is accurately understood or not; In 1977, under the researched auspices of the Ancient Hebrew University of Jerusalem, it was conclusively found evidentiary proof exists, showing that the Mayans, as with ALL "First Nation's" people, from Alaska to the southern tip of Chile have in the most ancient histories solid evidences, that they all were the SEED of Ephraim/Mannassah, the two blessed son's of Joseph, whom were first cast out by G..d from Canaan because of their perversions, including totem worshiping, mound building, grove planting, for the purpose of sacrificing living humans upon Altars, while their wicked Priest Kings drank their blood. There-by, declaring in printed & published form, that the early Mayan's were therefore a part of that ancient Hebrew Exodus from Egypt, being mixed of Ancient Royal Egyptian Blood with Abrahamic/Sariah bloodlines. Therefore: Though no man knows the hour, day, or year: As Jesus said; "As you know the time of plowing is near at hand, when you see these things BEGIN to take place; look up, for your (eternal) redemption draws neigh." Therefore; it can not be argued away; the fact that we are nearing toward that final clash between wickedness and the Elohim God Head. It shall happen, just as the coming of Word made flesh, born of a Hebrew Virgin of the linage of King David, would bare God's Messiah/Son, was even fulfilled, bringing direct fulfillment of over 350 ancient Hebrew Prophesies declared it would happen. Consequently; "HE whom has wisdom, let him pay attention to all the "Signal Beacons" taking place around him in our generation of the Earth.

There is a point of time in the near future when Jesus, the Christ, the very Son of God, will return in the clouds to "catch away," "catch up" believing Christians in the "rapture."

Exactly 7 years later He returns to the earth in bodily form to begin His 1,000 year rule and reign over the planet earth. Abortions will end. Drunkness and gambling will end. Homosexual acts will disappear. All other "sins" which the Lord cannot / will not sanction will be erased from among the people as He rules with an iron rod.

Although there have been numerous INDIVIDUAL false prophets over the centuries who proclaimed exact dates for Armageddon, the Jehovah's Witnesses are the ONLY DENOMINATION which has done so -- repeatedly. In fact, JWs originated for the very purpose of proclaiming Armageddon to occur in October 1914.

For a short, but complete, summary of the JWs repeated false prophecies, the following webpage discloses the history of both the JWs and their predecessors:

The Watchtower first published in 1879 had the slogan: advertise, advertise, advertise the King and his (1914) Kingdom.

JW are a spin-off of the second Adventist which all came from the Millerite movement.
American war of 1812 army captain William Miller is ground zero for Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Yes,the “great disappointment” of Oct 22 1844 has never died out… it lives on in the Seventh day Adventist (who admit it) and the Jehovah’s Witnesses who deny it. The central CORE doctrine of the Watchtower, yes the reason the Watchtower came into existence was to declare Jesus second coming in 1914.When the prophecy (derived from William Miller of 1842) failed they said that he came “invisibly”.

Ergo,no 1914 then there can be no 1918 inspection and sealing of the ‘anointed’ so the entire Watchtower Bible and Tract Society doctrinal superstructure comes crashing down like a house of cards.
