MMRDA firm to generate 'Innovation Park'
The plans, without a shred of doubt, are noble and if the concerned agency gets serious and moves accordingly, India may perceive the commencement of a new era. Well, we are talking about the lofty plans for Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) divulged recently. The Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) has called for landowners who can render them 5,000 acres of land for the sake of developing an ‘Innovation Park’ at any place away from suburban Mumbai, Thane and Raigad.
Only on Tuesday, MMRDA, in conjunction with several other government officials, had a thorough discussion of the finer aspects of this Innovation Park – considered to be the biggest in the realm of Asia. It has come to the knowledge, as a result, within three months they will submit a report defining the role of all stakeholders like the state government, investors, scientists and developers of the project. On the word of Metropolitan Commissioner Ratnakar Gaikwad, precise identification of key domains happens to be a crucial step and the same is destined to guide the government agency in setting up the Innovation Park with apposite notions and standpoint.
How will the park look like? Nothing has been planned yet but it is certain that the park will facilitate almost 25,000 scientists across the world to perform research. It has also been learnt that the primary focus of the Innovation Park will be on sectors like pharma, nano- and bio-technology, functional foods, micro electronics.It is to be noted that the University of Pune University will play a great role by means of helping MMRDA in establishing this park having nearly 2,000 research centers for industries and government.
Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) has confidence that this park will create nearly 8 lakh jobs in the science and allied services. It is responsible for the development of Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) which comprises a Megacity of Mumbai - the capital of Maharshtra State - and fast growing hinterland.
