India to witness educational development through technical applications
Technology is no longer an alien subject but has become part and parcel of human lives. To be precise, it has taken the world by storm and hardly anything in the society is out of its reach. The latest to join this bandwagon is the notion of classrooms in the realm of India. How? It is becoming more and more evident that classrooms of the future could just be mobile phones and the newest collaboration of between Ericsson and IGNOU (The Indira Gandhi National Open University) is just a step forward.
What is the basic aim of this teamwork? It has been learnt that Ericsson is desirous to render all necessary services including creation of a 3G environment for students to download IGNOU course contents. What can be the first and foremost benefits? Thanks to this humongous initiative,
SMS alerts can be received by students on their mobile devices. Other than this, students can also download IGNOU course content easily through this new development.
Commenting on this, Professor V N Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor of IGNOU, stated, “Our University is founded on the idea that education should be offered to less advantaged sections of society. With Ericsson’s help, we will create a learning platform that uses mobile devices to build educational excellence and exchange information. Our students will benefit from the flexibility of learning at their own pace, any time, anywhere.”
Gowton Achaibar, President of Ericsson India, stated, “This partnership is yet another proof point of telecommunication being key for development of society. Education using mobile broadband technology will provide an efficient and economical way to get content to students in distance learning programs. We have a clear opportunity to use India’s rapidly rising teledensity to bring the advantages of broadband to the world of education.”
It is likely that the endeavor (bizarre till now) will set off a new dawn in the Indian educational scenario.
