I followed your link and read the two examples you used to discredit VR as a therapeutic modality. You certainly seem to have an axe to grind here that would be better served with evidence that goes beyond just your opinion and two questionable pieces of evidence. Perhaps you should read these two meta analyses (citations posted below) that suggest that VR is as effective as real world exposure and more effective than imaginal exposure for anxiety disorders. Avoidance, failure to engage in imagery, variable capacity for image creation etc. are all culprits in the limits of imaginal only exposure. Sure, some folks do just fine with imaginal, but that certainly is not an indictment on whether VR is as effective or better suited for some patients. Here are the meta analyses citations. If yer gonna come into this fight, you may really need to come in armed with more than just your opinion!

I agree with Captain Bunn.

The reason VR isn't that effective is that it exposes the person to the thing they fear - which at best is unnecessary, at worst will make it worse.

Fear of Flying - in fact any fear - is better overcome by 'rewiring' the person's fear response well away from the problem. Expensive equipment is unneccessary - when the time comes to check if the therapy was effective, your mind is the greatest VR machine ever created!

SEYMOUR SEGNIT is the Founder & President of CTRN: Change That's Right Now, Inc., an organization that helps individuals to rapidly overcome the most extreme fears & phobias.

If you ad the additional code that you write about in the end of your blogg should you delete the page element you created earlier? Can't be good for google analytics to have 2 pieces of code doing the same thing...

It would be a wonderful thing if Virtual Reality therapy was half as good as its promoters claim. If you read the research - and know how to understand the jargon - you will learn that the research shows it is not effective.

Before you invest money in something that is not effective, get more information on Virtual Reality at http://www.fearofflying.com/research.shtml#virtual

You should be able to tell if you're consuming too much caffeine when you're sleeping with your eyes open. When you start chewing on other people's fingernails, you're caffeine- intoxicated. Seriously, more and more products -- beverages, food and pharmaceuticals (even candy bars and chewing gum) -- have higher and higher amounts of caffeine. Most people have no idea how much caffeine they really consume daily. For example, Starbucks' coffee has 50 percent more caffeine than home-brew. Ethic Soup blog has a good Caffeine Facts article at:
