Weird and Amazing Facts about the Human brain
The human body no doubt is an amazing piece of machinery and the human brain is the most complex and important part. At birth the brain weighs 350g to 400g and for adult the average weight is 1300g to 1400g. The average human brain is of the dimension 140mm/5.5 (Width), 93mm/3.6 inch (Height) and 167mm/6.5 inch (Length).

Here are some weird and amazing facts about the brain
The human brain is 80% water
Brain consist of high water content and loads of blood which makes it jelly like and pink coloured organ. Keep yourself hydrated; remember your brain needs it the most.
Blood in the brain
About 3 full soda cans or 750ml to 1000ml of blood flows every minute though our brain. If there is a loss of blood supply to your brain you will lose consciousness within 10 seconds immediately after the loss.
Brain can power 25 watt light bulb
The perfect image for a good idea, a light bulb over the head. FYI our brain generates enough energy to power a 25 watt light bulb, even while sleeping.
The Brain is pain free
The brain is the main processing unit, it can process pain signals but it may sound weird that the brain actually does not feel any pain.
Brain is more active when you sleep
Most people would think that their brain is more active during the day when they are awake but the fact is that the brain is most active when you are sleeping. In fact proper rest makes the brain more active.
Brain’s storage capacity
Technically your brain can store anything you experience the only issue is recalling it. Most of the information is still there but we somehow are not able to remember (recall it). As for the definitive storage amount the brain can hold 5 times the information found in Encyclopedia Britannica or between 3 or more than 1,000 terabytes.
Brain consumes more oxygen than other organs
Brain uses 20% oxygen even though it is just 2% of our body mass. This makes the organ more susceptible to damage, when there is a loss of oxygen supply. In one minute about 1/5 cups or 46cm3 of oxygen is consumed by the brain out of which 94% oxygen is used by grey matter while 6% oxygen is used by white matter.
More you dream the higher your I.Q.
Scientists have revealed that those who dream more have higher I.Q. however it is difficult for an individual to know if they are dreaming a lot since most don’t remember the dreams and average length of most dreams are just 2 to 3 seconds which is too small to be registered.
Speed at which information travels in the brain
There are about 100 billion neurons in the human brain about the same number of stars in our Galaxy. The brain’s left hemisphere has 186 million more neurons as compared with the right hemisphere. Information travels between neurons and the slowest speed is 260mph or 416km/h.
Some more amazing facts about the human brain
You cannot tickle yourself, try it. When you try to do so the cerebellum (part of brain) informs the other part of the brain that you are going to tickle yourself and the brain ignores the sensation signal.
If oxygen supply is completely cut off the brain can still survive for 4 to 6 minutes after which the cells begin to die.
On an average an estimated 70,000 thoughts are produced by the brain per day. Now there goes one more thought.
The brain is really smart but it can be fooled.
