Simple tips to protect your hair and skin and enjoy a safe Holi
Everyone is getting ready to celebrate Holi the festival of colours, with just few more days to go. Holi is played with colours, there are natural colours available in the market that will not harm the skin or your hair, however you can never be sure what the other person is using. So take these simple steps and protect yourself from the harmful effects by artificial colours.
Protect your hair
Playing Holi without any protection to your hair can not only damage your hair (make it rough) but you may also find it difficult to remove certain colours which will eventually fade off in few days.

Before you move out to play Holi, apply a lot of oil to your hair. This is a simple process and it works two ways. The oil forms a protective layer over the hair and scalp and does not allow colours to deposit on them, in fact it even protects from water. Once you are back after playing Holi all you need to do is have a warm bath. Just wash your hair with water and all colours will wash off and then use a shampoo to clean off the oil.
Protect your eye
When playing Holi sometimes people use excess force and you may not get time to defend yourself. The best option to protect your eye is to wear sunglasses. But remember use a cheap sunglasses so you don’t mind even if it gets damaged. Big sunglasses, works best.
In case you are playing without sunglasses make sure you shut off your eyes tightly before someone applies colour on your face. In case some colours enter your eye immediately clean it with clear water. Colours are harmful and if they enter the eye they can cause temporary or in some cases permanent blindness. If you are experiencing irritation in your eyes consult your doctor ASAP.
Also do watch out for those water balloons or the small plastic bags filled with water.
Protect your skin
Apply moisturizer or skin lotion on your skin, this will protect your skin by forming a thin layer and it will also help wash off colours easily. For added protection wear fully covered clothes the more your body is covered the less chances of colours reaching your skin.
So go out and enjoy this Holi. Be safe play safe.
