Eat chocolate, steer clear of stroke

Lots of ways to thwart mounting cases of stroke all over the globe have been discussed by now. While the majority of them have been found to be futile, some of them have been working to a certain extent. But seeing the determination of concerned researchers at the moment, it seems that having chocolates (on a daily basis) is the best antidote to strokes.

Is this too a gimmick? Perhaps not since the comprehensive study was conducted among (certainly not less than) 50,000 people. In accordance with the study, people having chocolates have 22% less prospect of suffering from a stroke. What shall happen to the persons already attacked by strokes? It we rely on the study, they must start having chocolates at once; as a result, the chances of their deaths may get reduced by 46%.

On the contrary, these reports will be exposed at the impending annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology in Toronto. Through this the researchers have tried to show that chocolates are rich in flavanoids, which is a healthy anti-oxidant.

But surely Sarah Sahib, the author of the study from University of Toronto in Canada is not content. As per the author there is the need of more researches to get more confirmed and also to determine whether chocolate truly lessens stroke risk, or whether healthier people are simply more likely to eat chocolate than others. Sarah Sahib teamed up with colleague Dr. Gustavo Saposnik to conduct the study. In short, two studies were conducted and at first 44,489 people were monitored. In the second study, 1,169 people who already suffered stroke were monitored.

But there is a gloomy touch as well. Eating of too much chocolate, to steer clear of strokes, may lead to growth of fat as chocolate also contains saturated fat. There is need of a specific chocolate consumption, hence.
