The most talked about and the much awaited car from Maruti, the A-star has finally been launched.  The A-Star features the 998cc k10b light weight petrol engine which Maruti claims to deliver 19.6 km mileage per litre.

With the launch of the A-Star, Maruti said it will export the model to over 150 countries especially in the European markets. There will be about 200 A-Star variants. The A-Star is expected to carry a price tag from Rs. 347,000 to Rs. 412,000.

The A-Start is build with the state of the art technology and on a completely new platform. 85 percent of the car can be recycled thereby meeting the European ELV norms. A-Star is a green car, no doubt and free from hazardous materials like mercury, lead, chromium.

Within a span of three years this is the eighth vehicle launched by Maruti Suzuki. According to Maruti the A-Star has been build with the mid-segment in mind, those who seek high performance, high quality, low emission and most importantly fuel efficiency.

Currently the car will be available in 3 variants and even the base version will feature AC and power steering. A-Star is all set to compete with the Hyundai i10.
