India halfway through moon mission

BANGALORE: India’s first lunar spacecraft Chandrayan-1 has reached halfway in its journey to the moon. At 7.38 a.m. IST yesterday, its 440 Newton liquid engine was fired one more time to raise its elliptical orbit. Its new orbit would mean an apogee (farthest point from Earth) of 267,000 km while its perigee would be slightly different from its current 465 km. Read the rest of this story »

The market for touchscreen mobile handsets appears to be hotting up. The latest entrant to this fast growing segment is Motorola’s MOTOMING A1600. Among other features, this handset is also GPS-enabled allowing users to find their way with the help of preloaded navigation maps and a satellite based GPS. Mobile market watchers expect that with its price tag of Rs 15,847 the A1600 might be able to swing the customer tide which is currently drawn to higher-priced handsets like Samsung’s BlackBerry Bold and Omnia and the iPhone.
